Xbox has an exclusive two-year console on Dolby Vision and Dolby atmos

Don’t expect Playstation 5 or Nintendo updating switching switching to get Dolby Vision or Dolby atmos support in the near future. Microsoft has the exclusivity of the console in both technology for two years, according to the Xbox Wire France blog. Engadget has contacted Microsoft for more details.

The Xbox Series X / S system has supported the 3D Dolby Atmos audio capability because the console was released in November, while the Xbox One has done it since 2017. To use Dolby Atmos on the Xbox or PC console, you need to buy a $ 15 license. If you have an Xbox headset New wireless, you have access to the atmos on Xbox and PC at no additional cost until the end of September.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has tested Dolby Vision HDR to play games in the X / S series, with people in Alpha getting access earlier this month. This will be available for all X / S series owners at several points this year.

Even after the exclusivity period ended, there was no guarantee that Sony would add Dolby Vision or Dolby atmos to support the PS5 game. For one thing, the console has a Sony 3D audio machine itself, called Tempest.
